ABSTRACT
The main objectives of this research were (1) to study the opinions of teachers and students the toward roles of monks teaching Dhamma studies in the schools, , Sampran District, Nakhonpathom Province, (2) to study the comparison of teachers and students toward the roles of monks teaching Dhamma studies in the schools, , Sampran District, Nakhonpathom Province, and (3) to study the problems and suggestions to improve the roles of monks teaching Dhamma studies in the schools, , Sampran District, Nakhonpathom Province. The survey research was carried out in this study.
The survey Research and employed in the research A group of samples for this research consisted of 335 teachers and students in the schools, , Sampran District, Nakhonpathom Province, being drawn by stratified random sampling technique. The instrument for data collection in this research was questionnaire comprising check-list, rating scale and opened end question with the reliability value equal to 0.9588 The program for social science research was employed for data analysis. The statistics used for it are frequencies, percentage, average means and standard deviation. To test the hypotheses, t-test was used.
The research results
1.The overall opinions of teachers toward roles of monks teaching Dhamma studies in the schools, Sampran District, Nakhonpathom Province. were found at high level (X= 3.53). Having considered by each aspect, it was also rated at the high levels at all aspects ranking from the most to the least in terms of means such as teaching preparation (X= 3.45), while teaching performance in the high (X= 3.53) as measurement and evaluation (X= 3.62) respectively.
2.The overall opinions of students toward roles of monks teaching Dhamma studies in the schools, Sampran District, Nakhonpathom Province were found at high levels (X= 3.62 ). Having considered by each aspect, it was also rated at the highest levels at all aspect ranking from the most to the least in terms of means such as teaching preparation (X= 3.56) while teaching performance in the high levels at (X= 3.47), measurement and evaluation was found to be highest level (X= 3.82).
3.On comparing the opinions of teachers and students toward roles of monks teaching Dhamma studies in the schools, Sampran District, Nakhonpathom Province, it was found that teachers had statistical different opinions toward roles of monks teaching Dhamma studies in teaching preparation aspect from those of students at 0.05, while teaching performance, measurement and evaluation did not differ.
4.Regarding to the problems and suggestions to improve roles of monks teaching Dhamma studies in the schools, Sampran District, Nakhonpathom Province, it was found that were inadequate number of monks teaching Dhamma studies, learning time management and lesson plan making, less incentive, teaching materials and development of learning materials were not up to date, there was no unity in measurement and evaluation. Suggestions for improvement were noted as follows : Increasing the numbers of monks teaching Dhamma studies, transportation for monks teaching Dhamma studies should be provided, Managing time schedule, there should be meeting between monks teaching Dhamma studies and school administrators, more incentive, new teaching materials and media should provided.
