This research is a mixed method one consisted of a qualitative research. It is of purposes namely : 1) to the Sangkhas’ roles in protecting and solving the non –desired problems of the youth in the area of Long District, Prae Province, 2) to study  the people’s expectation to the Sangkhas’ roles in protecting the expected problems and 3) to study the problems and the obstacles faced by the Sangkhas in protecting and solving the undesirable problems faced by the youth.

The People used in the research are the children’s parents in Han-Au Sub-District, Long District, Prae Province. The exemplary group of 385 persons obtained from finding by using the instrument in collecting and noting the field data are made up by the researcher. The analysis of the data from the  questionnaires with the complete programme is made up of the statistic of the percentage of general data obtained from the answerers of the questions. The average statistic and the standard deviation of the levels of opinions and data from the field note are used in the content analysis.

         From the field study, it is found that the Sangkhas’ roles in carrying out the activities to protect and solve the problems of the undesirable problem faced by the youth are of the 4 kinds, namely: 1) on the side of giving knowledge, 2) on the side of training, 3) on the side of supporting creative activities and 4) on the side of co-operation with the relative work unit.

                From the study, it is found that the monks have roles and duties in training and teaching the youth. In the developing the youth and causing them to have ethics and qualifications, the Sangkhas themselves must practice to be good examples to the youth. This point is one of the methods which are very important in spreading Buddhism that will cause learners to receive the good characteristics. The state of having good qualifications and ethics to support the education of the academic and community development is the way to carry out the people’s daily live activities. The aims of the Sangkhas’ roles in protecting and solving the undesirable problems arising to the youth in general point are of high level. When considered separately, it is found that regarding the support of the Sangkhas constructive activities is of highest average. On the side of giving the knowledge of the data, it is of the highest average. So it is hope that the monks should give and train the knowledge of Dhamma to the youth. This means the monks have co-operation with the relating offices.

Moreover, the Sangkhas still support the constructive activities which are of the highest average, this is to say that the Sangkhas support the area in the temples for the youth to set up constructive activities. Regarding the cooperation with connected offices, there is highest average, that is to say, the Sangkhas cooperate with the connected offices to help the youth in the areas. Regarding the found problems and obstacles, it is found that some monks have no time to research enough information to teach students. Some monks have not enough skill to use media in teaching while some were lack of ideas to perform interesting activities. Some could not solve students’ problems and many monks have too many burdens to work. Also the temples are lack of media and instruments to manage training courses.
