This thesis aims to study the Buddhist ethics existed in Uthaithani Province folk songs by having 3 objectives: 1) to study the Buddhist ethics from Theravada Buddhism; 2) to study rh historical background of Uthaithani Province folk songs; 3) to study the Buddhist ethics existed in Uthaithani Province folk songs.

The study results reveal that ethics is considered as the inner conduct that performs in terms of virtuous behavior. The ethics studied is categorized in 4 types; 1) basic ethics or orecepts; 2) intermediate ethics or 10 wholesome performances; 3) advanced ethics or the Eight Paths; 4) everyday life ethics or the 2 Worldly doctrines, the 4 Sublime states of mind, the 4 Basis for success, the 6 Directions, and the 38 Blessings.

The Buddhist ethics existed in Uthaithani folk songs mainly concern principles of conduct to be practiced by lay people from that they will learn about good and evil deeds, wholesomeness and unwholesomeness. It is also noticeable from the study that people especially of Tapoh Village, are highly impressed by these ethical practices through their folk songs.

The Buddhist ethics had been divided in to 2 levels : the mundare level that belonged to the world and the supramundare level that belonged to beyond the worlds.

In conclusion, folk songs were those embedded Buddhist ethics to be applied by Thai citizens. They performed the Buddhist ethics through their traditions and cultures that created Thai identity to be existed with the people up to  the present time.
