The Analytical Study of the Principles of the Virtuous Doctrines for leading the Lives as appearing in the Buddhist Scriptures.
This thesis is of 3 objectives, namely:-
1. To study the way of thought about the Virtuous Doctrines in the Buddhist
Scriptures.
2. To study the Doctrinal principles for the virtuous peoples’ leading their lives.
3. To apply the Virtuous Doctrines to the developing of the peoples and the
societies.
This research is a virtuous one by collecting the data from the Three Baskets (Tipitaka), the commentaries, the academic Texts, the documents and the concerned research work. The research has analyzed and given out the different data, and them composed and brought for suggestion in the way of description.
From the study, it is found that kanlayànÚathamma means the good Doctrine which is the virtuous peoples’ principles of practice which are of the important characteristics as follows:-
They are the Doctrines showing the peoples virtuous, showing out through the good body, the good speech and good mind with honesty, loving kindness, compassion and good behaviour to oneself and societies.
The Buddha admired the persons who are of the virtuous doctrines as the persons who have completed the Dhamma and the Vinaya. The virtuous peoples’ behaviours consist of the three steps, namely: the first step is the observation of the precepts, the second step is the calming of the mind and the third step is the practice of the Insight Meditation to destroy all kinds of suffering.
From the Doctrinal principles for maintaining the virtuous peoples’ lives, it is found that they are composed of 2 import parts, namely:- 1) The Doctrinal principles of administrating themselves such the Threefold Learning, the Four Noble Truths, the Five Precepts, the Five Doctrines and the Seven Qualities of a good person all of which are the Doctrinal principle for developing the virtuous people’s bodies speeches and the minds. 2) The Doctrinal principles in developing the societies are Khanti, Soracca Catu-Sanghahavatthu, Catu-Brahmavihara, Satta-Aparihaniyadhamma all of which are the Doctrinal principles which cause the virtuous people to develop the societies together.
Regarding the application of the principles of the virtuous Doctrines to the Thai societies, they can be applied to developing the personnel lives and causing them to be confident to do goodness and be successful in their lives. Moreover, they are not attached to the worldly things and will have Loving Kindness and Compassion.
Besides, these Doctrinal Principles of the six Directions (Cha-Disa), can be applied to their families, such as the preserving the relationship with the members of their families etc. The roles played by those who have the kanlayànÚathamma in Buddhism in spreading Buddha, Dhamma, in improving and in preventing the dangers from arising to Buddhism.
In conclusion, to have the Principles of the Virtuous Doctrines in carrying out the peoples’ lives can help to solve their problems, social problems, and economic problem. Besides, the said Doctrinal principles can develop the people to be of the virtuous, the ethics, both which can cause the societies to be generally peaceful.
