The purpose of this research is to study the concept and the theory of practicing the mindfulness in Buddhism, to study the concept and the method of practicing the mindfulness in daily life according to Thich Nhat Hanh’s way and to study the results of practicing the mindfulness in daily life according to Thich Nhat Hanh’s way. The study is conducted by the documents and the field research.
From the results, it is found that :- the theory of practicing the mindfulness in Buddhism is the practicing of the Four Foundation of mindfulness which the way of having mindfulness in the body, the feeling, the mind and the mind-object. Especially, the practicing Anapanasati causes the practitioner to receive both the bodily and mental happiness and peace up to the right concentration and the wisdom which can extinguish the suffering up to the attaining Nibbana
According to Thich Nhat Hanh’s viewpoint, the mindfulness is the heart of Buddha’ s teaching. Thich Nhat Hanh’s principle of practicing the mindfulness, emphasizes the practice Anapanasati together with the practice of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness, in accordance with the Threefold Trainings (Tisikkha), that is emphasized the practice are to be of mindfulness, continual consciousness at the present moment up to the attainment of concentration (Samatha) and wisdom (Vipassana). This fact help practitioner can look deeply into the nature of reality and help the practitioner to develop his quality of life.
It is also found that Thich Nhat Hanh has the deep knowledge in Buddhism both in Mahayana and Theravada. He also have the understanding of the change of the general societies. This caused him to have some view and teaching outstandingly with the ages by emphasizing the way to apply Buddhism to leading lives. The pattern and the method of practicing the mindfulness in daily life according to Thich Nhat Hanh’s way could be practiced both in the main gestures and the daily life activities with various technique to cause the practitioners to be relaxed be joyful and concentrated at the present moment easily. Regarding the results of the practicing of mindfulness according to Thich Nhat Hanh’s way, it is found that the practitioner is of the developing him life better bodily verbally and mentally. Moreover, it is found that the practicing according to Thich Nhat Hanh’s way is very useful to the general societies.
