Abstract

Abstract

                This  thesis  aims to study the outlook of  the  depressed fever both in the medical and Buddhist ways,  the  principles  of  Dhamma  and  the  treatment  of  depressive  disorder  in the Buddhist way and  to  apply  the   treatment  of  depressive  disorder  according  to  Buddhism  in  daily life.

                From the study, it   is   found  that  both  the   medical way and the  Buddhist  ways  are of  the concepts of  depressive is one kind, it  is  to come from both physical and psychological sides  because there is a relationship between body and mind. On the physical side, for example, it is the chronic illness, while the psychological side, it may be caused   by loosing   the  beloved  person or the emotions affecting the body. The depressive  disorder  isn’t only the change of emotions, but also has the effects on the body and the behaviors.

     From  interview with Depressive  physician and the interview with depressive patients through the physician found Depressive  patients,  it  is found that  the  Buddhist Doctrinal  principles  help the treatments and the  prevention of the  depressive  disorder, for example, the Four  Noble  Truths, the Five Aggregates, the Three Characteristics  and  the  wordly  doctrines.  

The adapting of the Buddhist ways to cure  the  depressive  disorder, can be done at  the level  of   mild  symptoms  or  imformation  can  also  be  recognized.  In addition, the  Dhamma   practice  such  as  the conscious practice (Anusati), the practice of  Four Divine States of Mind (Brahmavihara), practicing the systematic attention (including proper consideration, reasoned attitude and reasonable view)  and the development of Four foundations  of  Mindfulness  also benefit  the patients, they understand the nature of their body and mind that effect the treatments.
