This thesis is of 3 objectives: 1) to study the context of managing foreign labours in Hia Mote-Jae Nee Grocery, 2) to study Buddhist peaceful means in labour management in Buddhist Scripture, and 3) to study the way of managing labours in a grocery by Buddhist peaceful means. It is a field-work qualitative research by the tools of a documentary study, and the in-depth interview in 3 groups of interviewees amounting 14 key informants altogether.
From the research, it is found the followings:
1) Running grocery which is a small business operating by utilizing cash is fond of hiring foreign labors as Thai labors consider the work hard and fussy; while the foreign labors are patient enough for the hard work of such duties, i.e. taking care of arranging products in the store, buying and selling, including serving customers who come in the store, delivering products direct to customers in case of ordering lots of them. In hiring foreign products, there are problems and obstacles of coordinating system with related government agency of which often changes causing employers complications and delay proceedings for hiring foreign labors legally.
2) Sangahavatthu, the 4 bases of social solidarity are for instance giving, using kindly speech, rendering services and conducting equality consisting in impartiality, is one of Buddhist peaceful means that can be used to manage foreign labors as it does not only help maintain good relationship in an organization but it is also one of the tools to manage conflict resolution in it.
3) Hia Mote-Jae Nee Grocery is an example of foreign labors management by sincerity, love and loving-kindness of the business owners uniting the hearts of the foreign labors in the grocery. It can be concluded as the new knowledge, a model of managing foreign labors in a grocery called GPSE : G stands for Giving for changing quality of foreign labors’ lives: the giving that creates changing of foreign labors’ quality of lives, i.e. the giving of good chance, sincerity and generosity, good advice in working attentively according to principles and justice; P stands for Peaceful speech as the organizational culture: the use of peace language to create the grocery culture by assigning the work with loving-kindness tone of voice, giving advice with proper time, keeping stable speech with mindful talk; S stands for Striving for foreign labors’ benefits: the aims for foreign labors to receive beneficial supports, and giving hands as their relatives and friends to fulfill benefits for one another; E stands for Equality consisting in impartiality: the equality that consists of justice, familiarity, holding on to principles but not commanding.
