This thesis is qualitative field-work research with 3 objectives: 1) to study conditions of the promotion of a peaceful community of Doichang coffee farmers’, 2) to study the way of promotion of the peaceful community according to Buddhist peaceful means, and 3) to present the way of promotion of the peaceful community according to Buddhist peaceful means of Doichang coffee farmers.  The main information of the studies is from Tipitaka, commentary and sub-commentary, respectively, while the information from the case study of Doichang coffee farmers is from documentary books and the interviews made to related people.

From the research, it is found the followings:

The community of Doichang coffee farmers:  It is in the old style of living together as relatives, having traditions and ways of lives in natural surroundings with the majority land of forest and coffee farming.  Previously, this community grew poppy as their major occupation, later on in the Royal Project, King Rama the 9th gave village people coffee trees to grow instead.  Thus, coffee has then become the main product of Doichang community; and it is the expert community for growing good quality, taste and smell coffee, being fond of worldwide.  The community has gathered to promote such wisdom and developed for its strength, yielding growth economics as the unique community in the administration for self-dependency.

The conceptual idea of a peaceful community: It has 2 conditions of physical and human-relationship aspects; both of which is the state of having no conflict but loving- kindness; it is without danger but harmoniously unique with freedom, justice, self-dependency, and equality of chance.  Such state is the aim to build a welfare society, unity on the foundation of trust and helping one another. In Buddhism, the creation of a peaceful community can happen by the idea of Sangahavatthu: 1) Dana: giving, sacrificing and sharing, 2) Piyavãcã: polite and kindly speech, 3) Atthacariyã: aiming to perform useful conducts towards one another, and 4) Samãnattatã: self-adjusting, sharing happiness and sorrow.             .

                 3. The way of living lives of the community of Doichang coffee farmers by Buddhist peaceful means:  In the dimensions of: - Giving: the community has been gathering for creating Doichang coffee for quality, sharing knowledge, giving chance, will power, justice and equality in buying and selling coffee seeds, - Communication: the community has consulted and talked sincerely to one another, followed agreements, not cheated and has held the truth as its base, - Useful conduct: there is such a motto of making for mutual benefits of the brotherhood-uphill people that everyone is the owner by assisting and consulting to one another, and Self behaving: there are casual and familiar meetings to facilitate ones who need help or to impress visitors with trust, warmth, and assistance; all of which has become the uniqueness of a peaceful community called CHANAPA MODEL consisting: C = Change (self-adjustment), H = Humanity, A = Attitude, N = Nature, A = Accountability (responsibility),  P = Peace, and A = Auditability (can be examined).
