The objectives of this thesis were: 1) to study the state of participation in the Five Precepts observation promotion of the primary schools, 2) to study the principles, methods, and procedures of participation in the Five Precepts observation promotion, and 3) to propose a model of participation in the Five Precepts observation promotion of the primary schools. The integrated research method was used in the study. The quantitative data were collected by questionnaires from 205 samples and analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The qualitative data were collected from documents and in-depth interviews with 5 key-informants and analyzed by content analysis.
The results of the study found that:
1. The condition of participation in the Five Precepts observation promotion of the primary schools was at a high level and in each aspect; participatory process preparation (co-thinking), participatory process operation (co-working) and participatory process monitor, evaluation and dissemination (co- responsibility).
2. The principles, methods, and procedures of participation in the Five Precepts observation promotion consisted of; 1) participatory management system resulting to operation with cooperation of administrators and teachers in arrangement and management of room for ethical and moral practice, 2) Factors supporting participation are to encourage and convince teachers to attend training courses in the Five Precepts observation promotion and to arrange religious activities in Buddhist holidays, and 3) The Five Precepts observation is the fundamental practice of Buddhists.
3. The model of participation in the Five Precepts observation promotion for the primary schools includes of; 1) Principle and methods in which administrators, teachers, school committee, monks, and students’ parents participate in the five precepts observation, 2) Fundamental practice principles and practice methods, and 3) Participatory process in the Five Precepts observation promotion.
