The objectives of this research paper were (1) to study the role of Buddhist monks for drug prevention in Thamuang district, Kanchanaburi province, (2) to compare the opinion of peoples to the role of Buddhist monks for drug prevention in Thamuang district, Kanchanaburi province, classified by personal data, and (3) to study the problems, obstacles and suggestions for development of the role of Buddhist monks for drug prevention in Thamuang district, Kanchanaburi province. The research methodology was the mixed method research, that the quantitative research used the questionnaire as the tool to collect the data in the field study from 395 peoples in Thamuang district, Kanchanaburi province. The statistics were used for the data analysis through frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation (S.D.), t-test, F-test, One-way Analysis of Variance and Least Significant Difference: LSD. And the qualitative research had the documentary analysis and interview as the tool to collect the data in the field study from 12 key informants and analyzed the data through the content analysis technique.

             The findings of this research were as follow :

             1. Role of Buddhist monks for drug prevention in Thamuang district, Kanchanaburi province, Overall, that in high at mean of 3.88. When considering the aspect found that in high level all aspect, the aspects that has the most value include the role in the campaign to prevent and resolve drug problems aspect at mean of 3.88, the aspects with the lowest mean include the role in moral education to prevent and solve drug problems aspect at mean of 3.87

             2. The comparison for opinion of the people to the role of Buddhist monks for drug prevention in Thamuang district, Kanchanaburi province, classified by personal data found that education, occupation and monthly incomehad the significantly at 0.05, the hypothesis was accepted. But, those personal statuses were sex and age results not different.

             3. The problems, obstacles and suggestion for development of the role of Buddhist monks for drug prevention in Thamuang district, Kanchanaburi province, some Buddhist monks also smoke cigarettes, overlapping work with government agencies, most temples focus on specific activities in the Buddhist holy day, lack of cooperation with family institutions, focus on teaching too much prayer, camps moral 1 time per year is not enough, not use the temple area to maximize the benefits. And, the suggestions for development of the role of Buddhist monks for drug prevention in Thamuang district, Kanchanaburi province, as following; should be a good role model, should coordinate collaboration between communities temples and schools, the model of community campaign should be adjusted in line with community lifestyle, should focus on the participation t of family institutions, should focus on teaching meditation in a form appropriate to the age of the target audience, should cooperate with the educational institution in sila 5 school projects, should be measures to prevent mingling in the temples, and should be used temple area as a center for drug prevention activities of community.
