An Application of Good Governance for Sangha Administration of Sangha Administrators in Banpong District, Ratchaburi Province

Abstract

The objectives of research paper were (1) to study an application of good governance for Sangha administration of Sangha administrators in Banpong district, Ratchaburi province, (2) to compare the opinion of monks toward an application of good governance for Sangha administration of Sangha administrators in Banpong district, Ratchaburi province, classified by personal data, and (3) to study the problems, obstacles and suggestions for an application of good governance for Sangha administration of Sangha administrators in Banpong district, Ratchaburi province. The research methodology was the mixed method research, that the quantitative research used the questionnaire as the tool to collect the data in the field study from 190 monks in Banpong district, Ratchaburi province. The statistics were used for the data analysis through frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation (S.D.), T-test, F-test, One-way Analysis of Variance. And the qualitative research had the documentary analysis and interview as the tool to collect the data in the field study from 12 key informants and analyzed the data through the content analysis technique.

             The findings of this research were as following:

             1. An application of good governance for Sangha administration of Sangha administrators in Banpong district, Ratchaburi province, overall, that in middle at mean of 3.36, when considering the aspect found that the aspect of the rule of law, high level at mean of 3.56, Ana those aspect that in middle.

             2. The comparison of opinion monks toward an application of good governance for Sangha administration of Sangha administrators in Banpong district, Ratchaburi province, classified by personal data, found that status, age, years of being monk, general education, and Dhamma education were not different. The hypothesis wasn't accepted.

             3. The problems and obstacles for an application of good governance for Sangha administration of Sangha administrators in Banpong district, Ratchaburi province, as following: The rule of law; some temples lack of good public relations. The ethics; some temples have the problem of unity of monks and novices within the temples. The transparency; the construction of some of the temples are not transparent. The participation; some temples do not listen to the problems and needs of those involved. The responsibility; some Sangha administrators lack the care of the subordinates. The worth respectively; some temples did not give people in the area to take part in financial care. And, the suggestion for an application of good governance for Sangha administration of Sangha administrators in Banpong district, Ratchaburi province, as following: The rule of law; should be publicized the regulations, rules and policies of Buddhist temple to the people. The ethics; should cultivate the unity to monks, novices and the Buddhist temple personnel. The transparency; should make an auction of construction in Buddhist temple various projects openly. The participation; should set the stage for the community to listen to the problems and needs on a regular basis at least once a year. The responsibility; the abbots should ask about the problems of the monks and novices regularly. The worth respectively; the committees of public relations should be appointed to check spending of budget.
