The objectives of this research were 1) to study opinions toward The Monastery Development for Cultural Tourism, Samroiyod District, Prachuapkhirikhan Province 2) to compare The Monastery Development for Cultural Tourism, Samroiyod District, Prachuapkhirikhan Province classified by personal factors and 3) to study the problems and suggestions toward The Monastery Development for Cultural Tourism, Samroiyod District, Prachuapkhirikhan Province
This research was a mixed methods research. The data of quantitative research were collected from field study. The samples were tourists 380 people from 5 Temple for Cultural Tourism in Samroiyod District, Prachuapkhirikhan Province. (Samroiyod Temple, Phu Temple, Tarnjetyod Temple, Hooptakod Temple and Nhongkaoneaw Temple) The research tools were questionnaires with closed-ended and open-ended questions. The data were analyzed by the statistics; frequencies, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, F-test with One Way ANOVA, and Least Significant Difference: LSD. The data of qualitative research were analyzed by documentary analysis and in-depth interview with 12 key informants by content analysis.
The results of this research were found as follows. 1. Opinions of people toward the Monastery Development for Cultural Tourism, Samroiyod District, Prachuapkhirikhan Province on the overall were the high level ( = 3.63), and when considering each aspect was the highest level at all aspects. When ordering from high aspect to low aspect was religious places aspect ( = 3.73), religious personal aspect ( = 3.64), and Activities within the temple aspect ( = 3.52) respectively. 2. The comparative results of opinions toward The Monastery Development for Cultural Tourism, Samroiyod District, Prachuapkhirikhan Province classified by personal factors found that sex affecting different opinions significantly at 0.05, But age, educational degree, and occupation did not affect to opinions of people. 3. The Problems and obstacles to the development of cultural tourism in Sam Roi Yot district. It was found that some of the facilities were beautiful, but they did not match the context of the temples that preserved the original Thai artistic and cultural heritage. There are not enough tour guides or trainers. The promotion of tourism is not thorough. Not as modern as it should be.
The suggestions were found as follows. The policy should be implemented 5S (SEIRI = Clearing Up, SEITON = Organizing, SEISO = Cleaning, SEIKETSU = Standardizing, SHITSUKE = Training & Discipline) to adapt the Monks and the guide must have a third language skills, such as English, Chinese as a basis, and the management of the money to be transparent. Both the acquisition and dissemination of the activities that promote Buddhism and cultural tourism are reasonable.
