Abstract

The objectives of research paper were (1) to study effectiveness of Buddhism propagation of moral teaching monks in Muang Samutsongkham district, Samut-songkham province, (2) to compare the opinion toward effectiveness of Buddhism propagation of moral teaching monks in Muang Samutsongkham district, Samut-songkham province, classified by personal data, and (3) to study problems, obstacles and suggestions for development of effectiveness of Buddhism propagation of moral teaching monks in Muang Samutsongkham district, Samutsongkham province. It was the mixed research method that the quantitative research used the questionnaire as the tool to collect the data from 92 persons. The statistics were used for the data analysis through frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation (S.D.), F-test, One-way Analysis of Variance and Least Significant Difference: LSD. And the qualitative research had the documentary analysis and interview as the tool to collect the data from 10 key informants and analyzed the data through the content analysis technique.

              The findings of research were:

             1. Effectiveness of Buddhism propagation of moral teaching monks in Muang Samutsongkham district, Samutsongkham province, overall, that in high at mean of 3.61, when considering the aspect found that in high level all aspect. The aspects that had the most value include the aspect of instruction, high level at mean of 3.75. The aspects with the lowest mean include the aspect of the techniques high level at mean of 3.50.

             2. The comparison for opinion toward effectiveness of Buddhism propagation of moral teaching monks in Muang Samutsongkham district, Samutsongkham province, classified by personal data found that status, sex, age and education were not different. The hypothesis wasn't accepted.

             3. Problems and obstacles of Buddhism propagation of moral teaching monks in Muang Samutsongkham district, Samutsongkham province as following; afternoon classes cause drowsiness, moral teaching monks have a small number, some moral teaching monks do not teach often, students do not choose the type of activity, teaching materials are outdated, students need a summarize CD to Dharma lesson, lack of satisfaction assessment. And, suggestions for development of effectiveness of Buddhism propagation of moral teaching monks in Muang Samutsongkham district, Samutsongkham province as following; set Buddhism subject study period in the morning, the ministry of education should set  policy to increase the moral teaching monks to meet the needs of each area, should teach continuously, should use the students as the center of activity, use modern teaching media to stimulate interest among learners, should have the Dhamma C.D. for students to borrow to use at homes, and should also evaluate the activity by asking the satisfaction of participative students.
