The purposes of this research were; 1) to study the belief it Theravada Buddhism  2) to study the belief lf people towards Luangphoyai Watphotharam in Maung District, Buengkarn Province and  3) to analyze the belief of people towards Luangphoyai Watphotharam in Maung District, Buengkarn Province. were  as follows:

The belief in Theravada Buddhism  is the belief in compliance with the wisdom consideration in making  decision, that is, to believe in the Triple Gem. The four causes of occurrence of faith are the form, sentimentality and Dhamma voice are the four causes of faith, that is to say, 1) to believe in the taw of Kamma 2) to believe in the result of Kamma 3) to believe that the creatures have their own Kamma 4) to belieye in the enlightenment of the Buddha. All these beliefs are the virtue and benefits in developing the human beings, namely, the benefits in the present and the future.

Luangphophrayai in Wat Photharam was the Buddha’s image built as Maravichai in Lanchang period. In the primary it was built as gold substance. Later on, the war occurred the folks had plastered the body of Luangpho in order to make the Buddha’s image in Buengkarn District and the center for assembling people’s heart and to be respect for people including the ceremony organized annually.

The result of research was found that the belief of people in Buengkarn district towards Luangphoyai has been considered as the faith that occurs with the Buddhist belief, that is, to believe it the law of Kamma, the circle of rebirth, the law of the nature and to believe it the hell and the heaven, to do good, receive good and to do bad, receive bad, and all these consist of the cause and effect and to consider with the careful wisdom, the blind faith towards the things that cannot be seen towards the Buddhist faith.

If the faith is compared with the faith outside Buddhism, that is, to believe in magic power, the sacred things, the ghosts and divines, astrology, the tactics and solve the magic tactics, all these are considered that the Buddhist belief is the logical belief, that is, the reasonable beliefs, and to consider with their own wisdom’

When people believe in Luangphoyai and worship it with the offerings and practice. This belief results in the prosperity for their lives. The belief that Luangphoyai magical and sacred and if they worship they will be free from the various obstacles and this performance is important for themselves and their families and society until the traditions occur continuously.
