This thesis is of three objectives: 1) to study the guidelines for the propagation of Buddhism in the highland, 2) to investigate the propagation of Buddhism of the volunteer graduate monks in Mae Cheam district, Chiang Mai province and 3) to propose the guidelines for the propagation of Buddhism of volunteer graduate monks to the hill tribes in Mae Chaem district, Chiang Mai province.
The results revealed that the propagation of Buddhism to the hill tribes in Mae Chaem district was mostly focused on the knowledge of the volunteer graduate monks as well as the achievement of their missions toward the Karen ethnic group. The Karen ethnic groups were converted to be the Buddhists by the volunteer graduate monks and received the Triple Gems and the Five Precepts to practice in their ways of life. They were trained in the temples, schools and communities and all activities were organized by agencies.
Regarding the achievement propagation of Buddhism, it was found that the method of propagating Buddhism was the proactive for the benefits and happiness of people. They have a self-restraint on the monastic code of discipline, internal and external sense-fields and propagate the Buddhist teachings to people. in addition, They taught the Buddhist doctrines to the community and finding out the problems of the community and organizing a forum to share their learning and ready for being a spiritual counselor.
