This study aimed 1) to study the concepts of Vipassana meditation and happiness based on Buddhist Psychology; 2) to construct the casual model of happiness from Vipassana meditation based on Buddhist Psychology; and 3) to validate and propose the casual model of happiness from Vipassana meditation based on Buddhist Psychology. The study was a mixed method research using the quantitative research in order to support the results of the qualitative research. Key informants consisted of 14 specialists in Buddhist psychology, psychology, Abhidhamma pitaka and Vipassana meditation selected by a purposive sampling method. For the quantitative research 402 respondents of population were selected by a random sampling method. The tools of data collection in the study included an in-depth interview and questionnaire. The data analysis for the qualitative study was based on the content analysis and analytic induction. The quantitative data was analyzed by descriptive statistics and correlation analysis was done by a computer program, and LISREL was used to validate the casual relationship model with mediator and the direct and indirect effects as well. The results of the study revealed as follows:
1. The casual model of happiness from Vipassana meditation based on Buddhist Psychology consisted of 4 variables, 1) Vipassana meditation practice, 2) Environmental factors during practicing, 3) the Dhamma supporting Mindfulness-based meditation, 4) the happiness based on Buddhist Psychology.
2. The casual model of happiness from Vipassana meditation based on Buddhist Psychology included 2 exogenous latent variables comprising 1) Vipassana meditation practice, and 2) environmental factors during practicing, and 2 endogenous latent variables including 1) the Dhamma supporting Mindfulness-based meditation, and 2) the happiness based on Buddhist Psychology.
3. The validity of the casual model of happiness from Vipassana meditation based on Buddhist Psychology aligned with the empirical data revealed that the chi-square (x2) was 84.38, degree of freedom (df) as 76, the probability as 0.24, and the root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) was 0.017. The happiness based on Buddhist Psychology got the direct effect from environmental factors while practicing was equal to 0.92 at the significantly statistical level of .01. While variable Vipassana meditation practice would have to have happiness if there was the Dhamma supporting as a mediator. Moreover, the knowledge from this research is happiness based on Buddhist Psychology 4 = Vipassana meditation 4 + Dhamma supporting Mindfulness-based meditation 3 + Environmental factors during practicing 5
