Abstract

The 3 objectives of this research were: 1) to study Buddhist Psychology and Psychology for Active Aging, 2) to development of Causal Model for Active Aging in Buddhist Psychology and 3) to validate and propose Development of Causal Model for Active Aging in Buddhist Psychology.Mixed Methods Research using quantitative research to extend qualitative results was used for research design. The key informants were the Buddhism experts, Psychologist, Specialists in elderly care, the elderly who are the model, total 19 experts, selected by purposive sampling method with the sampling group of 401 samples. The Research instrument were interview schedule and the questionnaires. Qualitative data were analyzed by using content analysis and analytic induction.Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlation, and to validate model with the empirical data using LISREL program. Research results were shown as follows:

1. Family Support consisted of 1) giving 2) kindly speech 3) useful conduct 4) even and equal treatment. Threefold Training consisted of 1) training in morality 2) training in morality 3) training in mentality and training in wisdom. Self-Efficacy consisted of 1) Performance Accomplishment 2) Vicarious Experience 3) Verbal Persuasion and 4) Emotional Arousal. Active Aging consisted of 1) Healthy 2) Participation 3) Security.

2. Development of Causal Model for Active Aging in Buddhist Psychology consisted of 1 Exogenous Variable which was Family Support and 3 Endogenous Variables which were Threefold Training, Family Support and Active Aging. Threefold Training that caused to Active Aging was mediator in the model.

3. Development of Causal Model for Active Aging in Buddhist Psychology was fit with the empirical data, Chi-Square was 51.53, the degree of Freedom (df) was 52, the Probability value (P-value) was 0.49. The Goodness of Fit Index (GFI) was .98, the Adjusted Goodness of Fit Index was 0.96 and the Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) was 0.000 accounting for the variations Active Aging at 28.00 percent. To consider the direct and indirect Effects to The quality of life of People Homeless, it was found that Active Aging got the direct Effect from Family Support, Threefold Training and Self-Efficacy with the value of 26, .17 and .19 were significant at the .01 level. Active Aging also got the indirect effect form Family Support with the value of .20 and was significant at the .01 level.
