The study entitled “A Buddhist Psychological Model for Holistic Healthcare and Promotion on Traditional Thai Medicine” is of objectives: 1) to analyze the process of holistic healthcare and promotion in traditional Thai medicine for ones of Chronic illness; 2) to synthesize the Buddhadhamma and Psychological principles of holistic healthcare and promotion in traditional Thai medicine ones of Chronic illness; and 3) to present a Buddhist Psychological model for holistic healthcare and promotion in traditional Thai medicine ones of Chronic illness. The study is qualitative in nature. An in-depth interview is used to collect data from 17 key informants and Focus Group Discussion is also used to collection data from 12 specialized ones and Connoisseurship method used to judge the practical model with 8 specialists. 6’s C Technic analysis is used for analysing data.
Research results were as follows:
1) From the analyzing the process of holistic healthcare and promotion in traditional Thai medicine for ones of Chronic illness it found that the process of holistic healthcare and promotion in traditional Thai medicine for ones of Chronic illness included 4 steps: 1) Examination, 2) Diagnosis, 3) Treatment, and 4) Follow up in order to improve the quality of life as the goal of a balance of body and mind.
2) Regarding the synthesizing of the Buddhadhamma and Psychological principles of holistic healthcare and promotion in traditional Thai medicine ones of Chronic illness it found that the suitable Buddhamma was the Threefold training, for the bodily and mental healthcare, Four Sublime States of Mind for caring, Kalayanamitr 7 for improving personality to reinforce the mental and intellectual values, Four Noble Truths for eliminating suffering and the suitable Psychological principles comprised the counseling principles including a deep listening, positive thinking, persuasive communication, and self-actualization resulted in strengthening a sustainably holistic healthcare and promotion in traditional Thai medicine ones of Chronic illness.
3) With regard to a Buddhist Psychological model for holistic healthcare and promotion in traditional Thai medicine ones of Chronic illness it revealed that it integrated three sciences and promoted the effectiveness of a sustainably holistic healthcare in association with the human goal applying the Threefold training for a bodily and mental development based on the loving-kindness of Four Sublime States of Mind, a good care in Kalayanamitr 7 as the mental and intellectual value, Four Noble Truths for eliminating suffering, and the bodily and mental analysis in Five Aggregates for realizing the causes of suffering and find out the ways out of both bodily and mental gravities resulted in the bodily and mental balance: the bodily balance was a common basis of course of life and mental one was a stable, peaceful and mindful mind. Lastly Chronic ill ones accepted the truth with the wisdom of realization on a self-value, self-pride and self-ability for a good holistic healthcare of body and mind.
