The Roles of Morality Promotion for Students in Secondary Schools of Buddhist Monks in Banpong District, Ratchaburi Province

Abstract

The objectives of research paper were (1) to study status of the roles of morality promotion for students in secondary schools of Buddhist monks in Banpong district, Ratchaburi province, (2) to compare the opinion of students toward the roles of morality promotion for students in secondary schools of Buddhist monks in Banpong district, Ratchaburi province, classified by personal data, and (3) to study the problems, obstacles and suggestions for promotion of the roles of morality promotion for students in secondary schools of Buddhist monks in Banpong district, Ratchaburi province. The research methodology was the mixed methods research, that the quantitative research used the questionnaire as the tool to collect the data in the field study from 335 students in secondary schools in Banpong district, Ratchaburi province. The statistics were used for the data analysis through frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation (S.D.), t-test, F-test, One-way Analysis of Variance. And the qualitative research had the documentary analysis and interview as the tool to collect the data in the field study from 8 key informants and analyzed the data through the content analysis technique.

The findings of this research were as following:

1. Status of the roles of morality promotion for students in secondary schools of Buddhist monks in Banpong district, Ratchaburi province, overall, that in high at mean of 4.29, when considering the aspect found that the aspect of discipline, the aspect of honest, the aspect of mercy, the aspect of saving, and, the aspect of gratitude, that in high level all aspect.

2. The comparison of student’s opinion toward the roles of morality promotion for students in secondary schools of Buddhist monks in Banpong district, Ratchaburi province, classified by personal data, found that grade has the opinion toward the roles of morality promotion for students in secondary schools of Buddhist monks in Banpong district, Ratchaburi province was different, the significantly at 0.05. But, sex, age, and class level had the opinions toward the roles of morality promotion for students in secondary schools of Buddhist monks in Banpong district, Ratchaburi province were not different.

3. The problems, obstacles and suggestions for promotion of the roles of morality promotion for students in secondary schools of Buddhist monks in Banpong district, Ratchaburi province as following: problems and obstacles found that the dress is against school rules, coming late and not attending school on time, violations queuing system before-after buying food, the problem of borrowing and not returning, homework copying problems, problem of brawl that occurred in the school, the problem of animal abuse in schools, lack of accounting for personal income expenditure of students, some students buy unnecessary things, some students spend lavishly, problem of students gossiping teachers, some students are embarrassed to show gratitude. And, suggestions found that should promote discipline of dressing, should promote punctuality by allowing teachers to be good examples, should campaign to line up before - after to buy food, should promote honesty verbal, should promote honesty towards work and deliver homework on time, should promote activities that objective to benefit society and strengthen unity, should promote mercy to human and animals, should promote the accounting of personal income expenditure, should promote thinking before buying, Should promote savings, should promote expression of gratitude to teachers, and, should praise students who are good examples.
