This research aims : 1) to study the history and development of the temple wardens in Lanna Buddhism, 2) to study the pattern and process in creating a network of temple wardens to promote the learning of Buddhism in Lanna, and
3) to analyze patterns and processes of creating network of temple wardens to promote the learning of Buddhism in Lanna. The research was conducted by the qualitative research method.
The results were found that the temple wardens, Magganàyaka, or Poo Jarn which means the leader in performing religious ceremonies, such as asking for the five precepts, the Dhamma preaching and the offering word uttering. Usually, the Magganàyaka is permanently posited in the Wat or temples. The ‘Temple Warden’ is an Upasaka, the lay person who practiced the five virtues, faith, morality, belief in action not by irrational faith, avoiding to do merit outside the Buddhist Principle.
There are 6 steps on process in creating Lanna temple warden’s network as: 1) awareness of the need for a network, 2) deployment of the networks,
3) creation of the covenant, 4) setting the network management, 5) the relation-development and 6) continuous relation maintenance. The effectiveness of networking build up depends upon the willingly trust on the network, the recognition of the different cultures and mindful awareness in the importance of the network.
