A Process to Suport the Five Precepts Observation for Quality of Life of People in Mae-Tum Sub-district, Payamengrai District, ChaingraiProvince

Abstract

This research aims: 1) to study the five precepts in Theravada Buddhist Scripture, 2) to study the problems and obstacles in the five precepts of the people in Mae Tam Sub-district, PhayaMengRai District, Chiang Rai province, and 3) to study the process of supporting to observe the five precepts for qualitical life development of people in Mae-Tum Sub-district, PhayaMengRai District, Chiang Rai Province. This study was the mixed methods research. The quantitative research methods was done  by collecting data using questionnaire and data were analyzed by means and standard deviation. The qualitative research was done by using both documentary and in-depth interviews methods. The results were as follows:
1) In the results of the data analysis on the problems. and obstacles to the 5 precepts of the people in Mae Tam Sub-district, PhayaMengRai District, ChiangRai Province overall, it was found that the opinions were at a high level (x ̅ = 3.62). When considering each side, it was found that the barriers to keeping the 5 precepts of the people in the 5 precepts no.1 are the highest (x ̅ = 3.64). On issues related to the occupation of the people that affect the killing of animals and the abandonment of pets. Secondary is the 5 precepts no.3 is the media and the dress in society changed. The 5 precept no.4 lie to survive and scold others with rude words. The 5 precept    no.2 lack of moral training and society today must survive and The 5 precept no.5 Thai society is a social society, there are many liquor drug distribution and can be easily purchased.
2) The process of supporting to observe the five precepts for qualitical life development of people in Mae-Tum Sub-district, PhayaMengRai District, ChiangRai Province based on data analysis. The study on the problems and obstacles to the preservation of the 5 precepts to develop the process of promotion for a better life, found that, the 5 precept no.1 : Life insurance;  use the process of training in meditation camps and knowledge about the practice of the precepts. The 5 precept no.2 : Property collateral; the process of training participants to participate in economic development using the existing folk wisdom. It can lead to a good quality of life. Have the right to a standard of living adequate for every family. The 5 precept no.3 : family security; use the project to promote moral and ethics for youth. The Buddhist camp. The morality of the youth. The 5 precept no.4:  Social security; Use the process of building good relationships with one another by participating in community activities and meditation. The 5 precept no.5 : health security; use the process of organizing community activities. Campaign to create value for those who quit drinking and quit drug addiction by encouraging and accept to return good people to society.
