The three objectives of this research as follows: (1) to study the history of sheet silver inscription of Phra Nang Wisuddhidevi, (2) to study the influence and belief about sheet silver inscription of Phra Nang Wisuddhidevi towards Ban Pae community, Ban Pae sub-district, Chom Thong district, Chiang Mai province, and (3) to analyze the value of influence and belief of Phra Nang Wisuddhidevi towards Ban Pae community, Ban Pae sub-district, Chom Thong district, Chiang Mai province. This study is qualitative research by collecting data from books, text books, academic papers related research both Thai and foreign languages and in-depth interviews with key informants.
The study found that Phra Nang Wisuddhidevi was a king of Mengrai dynasty of the 16th and last queen of Mengrai dynasty (2017-2121 BE) that was the era of Lanna kingdom and Mengrai dynasty collapsed under Burma’s rule. In the reign of queen maintained Buddhism and built Wisuddhãrãm temple (Ban Pae Temple in the present). In 2110 BE, Phra Nang Wisuddhidevi gave Saen Luang Dap Duen, Muen Luang Chao and Muen Tong Taem built sheet silver inscription with Royal seal and Sangha seal for giving to Ban Pae community. The Content of sheet silver inscription mention Kallapanãkhãwat that means to give the villagers of Ban Pae and neighboring communities maintained and restored Wisuddhãrãm. Tex money arising from the farmland rent that gave and brought to maintain the temple and prohibiting authorities of country disturbed Ban Pae people, not to bring labor of Ban Pae people to be an official, for giving Ban Pae people to live and maintain Wisuddhãrãm temple.
The influence and belief about sheet silver inscription of Phra Nang Wisuddhidevi towards Ban Pae community, Ban Pae sub-district, Chom Thong district, Chiang Mai province found that the influence and belief as follows 1) the influence and belief towards tradition, 2) the influence and belief towards maintaining Buddhism, 3) the social influence and belief, and 4) the influence and belief towards creating relationship in ethnicity within community.
The inscription value of Phra Nang Wisuddhidevi towards Ban Pae community, Ban Pae sub-district, Chom Thong district, Chiang Mai province there are five aspects, including 1. Ritual value is the mind refuge of community, remedy the problem from supernatural power and conservation of community culture. 2. Buddhism value is a trick of making merit according to Buddhism, the conservation of religious places and maintaining Buddhism. 3. Tradition value is creating relationship in community firmly that bring about to good practice and value highly and preserving tradition. 4. Mental and social value is to realize and love in their roots, causing social rules and regulations. 5. Environment value is to cause the sacred area, to realize the important of environment and causing natural resources conservation.
