This thesis is of two objectives: 1) to study the Buddhist Doctrines for the environmental solution, 2) to apply Buddhist Doctrines for solving the garbage problem in area of Mueang Kaen Pattana Municipality. This research was conducted by a survey research method. The samples in this study were administrators, officers, staffs and 200 people of Mueang Kaen Pattana Municipality. The tools used in this research were the rating scale questionnaires and data were analyzed by the frequency, percentage and standard deviation.
The research results revealed that:
Regarding the Buddhist Doctrines for environmental solution, it was found the doctrines of Threefold Training or known as ‘core knowledge, core idea and core practice’. It is the principle of wisdom cultivation and mental development or to refrain from all unwholesomeness, to cultivate wholesomeness and to purify one’s mind. The three cores were considered as the self – development and human development to realize the natural phenomena and the truth. This will impact on the environmental development and its conservation. It will create a prosperous use of natural resources.
An application of the Buddhist Doctrines for solving the garbage problems in areas of Mueang Kaen Pattana Municipality, the Gharàvàsa-dhamma: virtues for a good household life were applied for solving community solid waste problems in four aspects viz. Sacca: truth and honesty, Dama: taming and training oneself, Khanti: tolerance and Càga: liberality.
