Abstract

Research on "Problems, causes and factors associated with poverty of farmers Nongsarai Sub-district, Donchedi District, Suphanburi Province" has 3 objectives: 1) to study problems, causes and factors related to the poverty of farmers Nongsarai Sub-district, Donchedi District Suphanburi Province, 2) to analyze  local wisdom and Buddhist principles to solve poverty problems of farmers in Nongsarai Sub-district, Donchedi District, Suphanburi Province, and 3) to propose guidelines for solving poverty problems of farmers Nongsarai Sub-district, Donchedi District, Suphanburi Province. This research is a qualitative research. The key informants are  personnel of government agencies, community leaders and farmers in Nongsarai sub-district, Donchedi District, Suphanburi Province, totally 16 persons. Data were collected by in-depth interviews. To know the problem, causes and factors related to the poverty of farmers after that, the data were analyzed and synthesized to link the guidelines for solving poverty problems of farmers.

The findings are concluded as follows:

 1. Problems, causes and factors related to poverty of farmers Nongsarai subdivision is divided into 3 areas: 1) Structure, It is found that the poverty problem of farmers is caused by the government sector, i.e. local organizations do not have a policy to solve poverty in their own area, complex marketing mechanisms, there is no central market to sell products. During the past 4-5 years, there has been a change in agricultural practices including the farmers do not extend the activity and the important thing is that the farmers do not have a household account, 2) resources causing rain not to fall seasonally, therefore it cannot do agriculture effectively because of lack of water, and some areas in Nongsarai sub-district were outside the irrigation area,  3) Individuals, it was found that farmers lacked Dharma in life not participating in the activity, there is no improvement in the pattern of cropping, lack of further development, lack of vision, most of farmers are very old, less knowledge, use only farming experience

2. Local wisdom and Buddhist principles to solve the poverty problem of farmers Nongsarai revealed that 1) local wisdom, the local wisdom of the farmers has many aspects, namely handicraft, weaving, fishing equipment, which is considered as a livelihood device for the local people in agriculture. Planting plants with smell can repel insects. Making fertilizer for soil maintenance, music with e-tease songs, harvesting songs, chee songs that are gradually fading away, natural wisdom is the tradition. The tradition of making merit to meet will discuss the happiness and suffering, 2) Understand the principle of Buddhism, it is worth mentioning that the farmers are fond of farming, satisfied and honest in work, use the principle of virtue is a principle to sustain life and the principle of living with others in society is secularism in order to enhance happiness in life

3. Guidelines for solving poverty problems of farmers Nongsarai District 1) Structural problems, solving problems in the government sector, local organizations must have activities development plans, a policy to create economic growth that is conducive to the poor, develop the market system to support farmers' productivity, 2) resources and within the community local authorities and local people must dig public water sources to store water, to have appropriate and thorough water management systems for farmers in all areas and focus on integrated farming, organic agriculture according to the principle of sufficiency economy, focus on self-reliance, support knowledge of local wisdom to develop skills and professional skills, establishment of a community school, 3) Individuals, the important thing is to start improving yourself by using Buddhist principles in daily life and emphasize self-reliance with the principles of Buddhism along with local wisdom, it must be diligent in seeking knowledge, the treatment for the protection of the property of the money that is obtainable, household accounting, and increase their professional skills.
