This thesis entitled “Student Development Activities through Threefold Training, Thongphaphum Municipality School, Kanchanaburi Province” has three objectives: 1) to study the student development activities through Threefold training, Thongphaphum Municipality School, Kanchanaburi Province, 2) to study the level of applying Threefold training in students’ self-development, Thongphaphum Municipality School, Kanchanaburi Province, and 3) to analyze the problems and obstacles of student development activities through Threefold training Thongphaphum Municipality School, Kanchanaburi Province. This is a mixed method research employing the quantitative and qualitative research methodology.
The research findings were found that:
1) In the study of student development activities through Threefold training, Thongphaphum Municipality School, Kanchanaburi Province, recording good deeds in a notebook activity is purposely assigned to encourage students to behave good regularly where good habit is cultivated through the observation of precepts whereby its advantages and disadvantages were instructed if the given precepts are intentionally violated. Under these situations, the right view is gradually caused through the activities of daily chanting and meditation. In every Friday, the activity that supports morality and ethics is always held by the invitation of Buddhist monks to lead students to do chanting and meditating before taking class. In doing this, students are advised to contemplate on breathing in and breathing out whereby they can make use of such concentration while learning. Apart from this, the activity to understand the Buddhist teachings through Buddhist history based on comic book is also used as the multimedia for learning by the help of school’s computer lab. Through seeing comic book, students can understand the Buddha’s story and his teachings including Buddhist essential holidays. To deliver this activity, the instructors just perform their duty like TV’s anchors where the ideas from the chosen story are shared for discussion and thereby encouraging students’ ability to learn and remember more than the memorization from books only. This is a kind of learning in the 21st century.
2) In the study of the application of Threefold training into students’ self-development, Thongphaphum Municipality School Kanchanaburi Province, the overall scores showed averagely 4.43, viewed from each side, it showed that the average of 4.37 is of the precepts, the score of 4.16 is of the concentration which is lower than other and the wisdom is of highest score, 4.76 respectively.
3) In the analysis of the problems and obstacles concerning the student development activities through Threefold training, Thongphaphum Municipality School Kanchanaburi Province, it was found that some students were not determined to do the assigned activities because they were in the age of child where the pleasant emotion is overwhelmed over them and their concentration is short resulting in disturbing others while doing activities or study. Furthermore, they are also motivated by mobile, violent games, Facebook and line. By virtues of these influences, they will not pay proper attention to comic book where the Buddha’s history and teachings are narrated and then they will not be able to study, just only remember them. Consequently, the development of their intelligent domain is not caused.
