The purpose of this dissertation was to propose a model for the development of leadership in propagation for administrative monks in the Sangha administrative area, Region 17 on the Andaman side. The integrated research methodology was used in the study starting from collecting information from documents and research works, quantitative data from 234 administrative monks through, in-depth interviews with 15 administrative monks, and focus group discussions with 12 experts to examine and approve the model of leadership development in Buddhist propagation.
The results of the study found that:
1. The state of leadership in 3 areas of Buddhist propagation; knowledge, skills and personality of the administrative monks in the Andaman coastal area was at a high level overall.
2. Development of leadership in Buddhist propagation of the administrative monks in the Andaman coastal area had 5 steps: 1) Development principles,
2) Development objectives, 3) Systems and Mechanisms management (or Development plan), 4) Operation procedures, and 5) Development evaluation.
3. The model for the development of leadership in Buddhist propagation of the administrative monks in the Andaman coastal area was examined and approved as the appropriate and practical one. According to the KSPM model, the administrative monks must have 4 qualifications of leadership: 1) Knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, orders, policies, plans and missions of the clergy, 2) Skills in using media, information technology, sermon techniques, principles of Buddhism both in theory and practice for teaching people, fund raising, 3) Having personality according to the principles in Ovadapatimokkha, and 4) Having a proactive propagation method, approaching communities and adapting to local cultures.
5 methods of integration were used in the development of the administrative monks; 1) Direct and indirect training, 2) Workshops training,
3) Group discussions, 4) Brainstorming sessions, and 5) Field trip study.
