Development of Activities for the Five Precepts Learning Promotion for Primary School Students In Pathumthani Province (Educational Administration)

Abstract

The objectives of this research were; 1) to study the current state of activities for the Five Precepts learning promotion for primary school students in Pathumthani province, 2) to develop activities for the Five Precepts learning promotion for primary school students in Pathumthani province, and 3) to propose a guideline of activities for the Five Precepts learning promotion for primary school students in Pathumthani province. The inter-disciplinary research method was used in the study. The quantitative data were collected by questionnaires from 151 samples and analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The qualitative data were obtained from documents and in-depth interviews with 5 key-informants, and then analyzed by content analysis.

The research results found that:

1. The current state of activities for the Five Precepts learning promotion for primary school students in Pathumthani province was at a high level in total and in aspects. The highest level was on abstaining from intoxicants, followed by abstaining from telling a lie, abstaining from stealing, abstaining from adultery, and abstaining from killing respectively.

2. The development of activities for the Five Precepts learning promotion for primary school students in Pathumthani province indicated that students should be promoted in discipline, honesty, sincerity, and reasons of happiness and suffering that resulted from the Five Precepts. Students who could practice as the good exemplary should be praised and rewarded. Activities concerning mindfulness and disadvantages of drugs should be arranged regularly for students in order to remind them all the time.

3. A guideline of activities for the Five Precepts learning promotion for primary school students in Pathumthani province consisted of; 1) Sweet and warm family, 2) Model student, 3) Mental refine and religious activity, and 4) Cooperation of community against drugs and to follow community regulations and cultures. That was relevant to the saying that the Five Precepts lead the life progressively.
