Management of Summer Novice Ordination Project in Bangphli District, Samutprakarn Province

Abstract

Objectives of this research were to:1. study the management of the summer novice ordination project in Bangphli District, Samutprakan Province, 2. compare people’s opinions of the summer novice ordination project management at Bangphli District, Samutprakarn Province classified by populations data and 3. study problems, obstacles and recommendations for the management of the summer novice ordination project at Bangphli District, Samutprakarn Province.

                 Methodology was the mixed methods: The quantitative research collected data from 194 Samples who were children and youth Participants of the Summer Novice Ordination Project at Bangphli District, Samutprakan Province by questionnaires with the validity value at 0.805. Statistics used in data analysis included frequency values, percentage values, average values, standard deviations. And statistics of one-way analysis of variance, ANOVA.  And the qualitative research collected data from 8 key informants, purposefully selected from experts by face-to-face interviewing with structured in-depth-interview scripts and analyzed data by descriptive interpretation

Findings of the research were as follows:

                 1 Children and youth who participated in the summer novice ordination project had opinions on the management of summer novice ordination projects at
Bangphli district, Samutprakarn Province, by overall at high level (
= 4.10, S.D. = 0.340)  Each aspect of the management was also at high levels accordingly as; 1) The method of measuring and evaluating learners was at high level (=4.30,S.D.=0.42), planning of operations were at high levels (=4.21,S.D.=0.49) preparation for operation was at high level (=4.1,S.D.=0.47), activities for practice was at high level (=4.17,S.D.=0.47) training method was at high level (=4.15,S.D.=0.47)and he problems, obstacles and suggestions were also at high levels (=3.91,S.D.=0.59) respectively

                 2. The result of the children and youth’s opinions comparison towards the management of the summer novice ordination project at Bangphli District, Samutprakan Province, classified by personal data was found that children and youth who participated in the summer novice ordination project with different educational levels did not have different opinions towards the management of summer novice ordination projects at Bangphli District Samutprakarn Province.  Therefore rejecting the set research hypothesis.  As for children and youth who participated in the summer novice ordination project with different age, family status, support, burden, expenses had different opinions towards the management of summer novice ordination projects at Bangphli District, Samutprakarn Province at statistically different level at 0.05, therefore accepting the set research hypothesis.

                 3) Problems and obstacles of  the management of the summer novice ordination project at Bangphli District, Samutprakan Province were that 1) preparation, not enough time for preparation and public relations of the project, 2)  planning for operation, parents and guardians did not have participations, lack of coordination, lack of supervisory personnel, 3) training guidelines, lack of able resource persons to conduct the training, 4) practical activities, trainers were not enthusiastic in training, 5) learners assessment and evaluation, operation could not be evaluated and followed-up, 6) problems, obstacles and recommendations, lack of supporting budget, few interested subjects causing the lack of participatory coordination.

                 Recommendations were that there should be clearly set objectives, public relations and coordination with other related  agencies before hand. There should clear explanations of rules and regulations for those children, youth, parents and guardians  who participated in summer ordination project. There should be meeting with all parties concerned for useful opinions, recommendations. Resource persons to conduct the training must be recruited. There should be chanting ceremony for dedicating the merit to the King. There should be monitoring and follow-up the participants before and after ordination. Budget must be allocated form government and private sectors  to support the project.
