The Promotion of Temple as Meditation Centers in Saraburi Province

Abstract

The objectives of this study were 1. to study  promotion of monasteries as the meditation centers in Suphanburi Province 2. to compare the promotion process of monasteries as the meditation centers in Suphanburi Province and  3. to propose the  Problems solving process in promotion of monasteries as meditation centers in Suphanburi Province
    Methodology was the mixed methods: The quantitative research applying  survey method collected data from 232 samples who were Buddhist monks at meditation centers using questionnaires with the confidence value at 0.896. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics; frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, F-test, one-way analysis of variance, ANOVA. The qualitative research collected data from 8 key informants with in-depth-interviewing and analyzed data by descriptive interpretation
        
Findings of the research  were as follows:
    1. Monks at meditation centers by overall, had opinions on the promotion of monasteries as meditation centers in Saraburi Province  at high level with the mean value at 4.25. Each aspects were also at high levels, from high to low as; the places at high level with the mean value at  4.33,  management was at high level with the mean value at 4.26 and resource persons at high level with the mean value at 4.15 accordingly
    2. The comparison of the opinions of the monks on  the promotion of monasteries as meditation centers in Saraburi Province , classified by personal data were that monks with different status, age, educational level, Pali educational level did not have different opinions on  the promotion of monasteries as meditation centers in Saraburi Province, rejecting the set hypothesis. Monks with  ordained age, levels of education, Dharma and Pali education, formal educational levels and  had different opinions on the promotion of monasteries as meditation centers in Saraburi Province at statistical significant level of 0.05, accepting set hypothesis
    3. Problems 1) The location of the Dharma practice office is not enough for the number of participants to practice meditation. There is not enough accommodation for the number of participants to practice dharma. And there is not enough place to walk to pay respect to the number of participants  2) In the field of lecturers, there is insufficient Vipassana Lack of the Master, the leader, examining the mood changes Some Dharma practitioners do not care as much as they should. And lack of support from both the clergy and government agencies 3) Management: Some religious offices do not comply with the rules announced and cannot be imposed. Some lacking modern teaching materials And easy to understand No coordination with the community
    Recommendations for  the promotion of monasteries as meditation centers in Saraburi Province Suphanburi Province were that 1) Places; more places with appropriate facilities such as Jongklom walking paths, should promoted as Dhamma Practicing centers. Monasteries with appropriate facilities should be selected for accommodating more Buddhists who come to practice Dhamma, 2) Resource persons; More meditation instructors should be recruited and be well trained. Meditation instructors from other monasteries should be invited to help teaching. Masters, abbots and government agencies should support the centers for more efficiency, 3) Management; each Dhamma Practicing centers should have capable personnel to carry out the operstion. They also should be continuously trained for more competency. New technology should be applied to meet the change at present time. Development plans, short, medium and long plans should be implemented. Rules and regulations should be enforced strictly for more efficiency. Close public relations with communities and related agencies should be managed for the effective promotion of monasteries as the Dhamma Practicing centers.
