The study entitled “A Competency Model of Insight Meditation Master Based on Buddhist Psychology” consists of three objectives as follows, (1) to analysis the competency of Insight meditation masters based on Buddhist psychology; (2) to create the competency models of Insight meditation masters based on Buddhist psychology; and (3) to synthesize and present the competency models of Insight meditation masters based on Buddhist psychology. This qualitative study had collected information by using Document Research and In-depth interview with 6’Cs Technique from 17 key informants, in addition with 12 specialists by using group discussion. Afterward, all collecting information were synthesized and analyzed by Logical Matrix Technique to deliver the competency models of Insight meditation masters based on Buddhist psychology, subsequently, appropriately assessed by 5 specialists.
The following are the study results,
1. The competency of insight meditation masters based on Buddhist psychology; consists of 5 components, namely : 1) the Insight Meditation Master should know teaching meditations process 2) the Insight Meditation Master should be able to use stratagem on teaching meditation 3) the Insight Meditation Master should have pure conduct and knowledge 4) the Insight Meditation Master should have good characteristics and 5) the Insight Meditation Master should have motive on teaching insight meditation.
2. The competency of teachers based on psychology consists of 3 components, namely : 1) the teacher should have develop oneself continuously and work as team effectively 2) teachers must be able to design learning lessons that appropriate for students and manage classroom facilitated to students’ learning. 3) teacher must be capable to demon street in easy way, deserve, question, and support students.
3. The creation of A Model of Competency of Insight Meditation Masters based on Buddhist Psychology using the content analytical results from Tripitaka, commentary, sub-commentaries, documents, and other relevant researches with the core concept of the competency of insight meditation masters based on Buddhist psychology; and also the concept and theory about the competency in psychology, with the analytical results from an in-depth interview of experts in the competency of insight meditation masters, insight meditation masters, and practitioners. Then, the researcher used data from the focus group to synthesize and create A Model of Competency of Insight Meditation Masters based on Buddhist Psychology.
4. The competency model of Insight meditation master based on Buddhist psychology consists of 9 components, namely : 1) the Insight Meditation Master should know steps and method of practice meditation that teach with kindness, in addition develop ; teaching for leading students to achievement 2) the Insight Meditation Master should be able to take care and help insight meditation practitioners 3) the Insight Meditation Master always should seek for knowledge by reading, practice meditation and teaching 4) the Insight Meditation Master should share the work and mitting everyday 5) the Insight Meditation Master must be able to design learning and evaluation 6) the Insight Meditation Master must be able to examine survey to the meditation practitioners’ development, 7) the Insight Meditation Master should be able to manage the meditation rooms’ development to make it Peaceful to Meditation practitioners, convenient and clean 8) the Insight Meditation Master should to be able to teach expertly the method and step of Insight Meditation skillfully to clearly and 9) the Insight Meditation Master should be able to give to counseling and encourage to practitioners.
Moreover, the study results also shown that the “9 C MODEL” is the highest appropriate competency model of Insight meditation master based on Buddhist psychology. Therefore, the “9 C MODEL” or 3 9 24 might be the respected competency model which will be used in the meditation learning process in the future.
