This research had three objectives: 1) to study level of behavior of preparation for death of the elderly in 24 hours meditation assembly, Prachinburi province, 2) to compare level of behavior of preparation for death of the elderly in 24 hours meditation assembly, Prachinburi province with different personal factors. 3) to study correlation between relevant factors and level of behavior of preparation for death of the elderly in 24 hours meditation assembly, Prachinburi province.
110 elderlies in 24 hours meditation assembly, Prachinburi province were randomized by purposive random sampling method to be samples of this research. Tool of this research is questionnaire with three parts namely: personal information, factors relevant to behavior of preparation for death, and behavior of preparation for death. Statistics namely: frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t- test, one-way Anova, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient were used to analyze data and hypothesis were tested at statistical significant level at .05.
This research found that :- The level of behavior of preparation for death in the elderly are in moderate level (= 3.90).
The elderly with difference of gender, marital Status, monthly Income have not different level of behavior of preparation for death at significant level .05.
The elderly with difference of ages, educational level, and experience of participating activities have different level of behavior of preparation for death at significant level .05.
Totally, factors relevant to behavior of preparation for death have positive correlation to behavior of preparation for death in moderate level (r=.32) at significant level .05.
On specific aspects, it show that social support, religious belief about death, and personal health perception have positive correlation ( r=.54, .45 and .23) to behavior of preparation for death at moderate level at significant level .05, But anxiety about death have negative correlation to behavior of preparation for death at moderate ( r=.20) level at significant level .05.
In conclusion, this research suggested that behavior of preparation for death have positive relation to social support, religious belief about death, personal health perception. This is good trend for the elderly who were participated meditation practice that why other family members should promote three conditions as presented previously in the elderly including help them decrease anxiety about death by doing activities, talking, hugging them, and giving them massage to confident them and don’t them feel lonely.
