The objectives of this dissertation are (1) to study the livelihoods and problems of the Akha ethnic group on Doi Mae FahLuang (2) to study the quality of life development according to the 4 cultivation in Buddhism. (3) Presenting guideline of Development of integrated Buddhist quality of life in the Akha ethnic group on Doi Mae FahLuang. This research is a qualitative and field research with in-depth interviews. The target groups are (1) community leaders, (2) Akha tribe members, and (3) Buddhist experts.
The results of the research were found that, 1) Akha people are hill tribe ethnic groupsonDoi Mae FahLuang. They migrated from the mountains in Tibet or China and settled in Mae Sai of Thailand. There are 8 Akha ethnic groups. It will focus on the Akha ethnic groups on Doi Mae FahLuang. The structure of coexistence has a clear tradition of practice and culture. Governance is focused on respect to leadership and seniority. It is important to stay together. The problems of the lifestyle of Akha ethnic group on Doi Mae FahLuang contain 2 levels of problems
Level 1 Individualism is a civil rights issue, not a nationality, which leads to a lack of proper health care, including the right nutrition. And problems of the elderly and children who lack the correct understanding of the development of quality of life, that leads to the second level of social problems. It is the lack of cooperation of the people to care for nature in the area and the environment of the community, because of lack of collective consciousness. It leads to problems in the community, such as increased garbage. The lack of good values for the community, such as lack of volunteerism in the community which become to selfishness, that everyone wants their own interests.
2) The quality of life development according to the 4 cultivation in Buddhism, mean the development of life in 4 aspects. (1) Physical development, mean the development of a healthy body, without disease. (2) Moral development, mean self-discipline, Self-control, free from causes of ruin. (3) Mental development, is to create stability and prosperity in mind with the universal virtue. These Are love and volunteerism. (4) Wisdom development, is the result of all three aspects development that make happiness, and the intelligence, that causes the knowledge creation and understanding in quality of life development, Life is perfect and truly sustainable. The development of quality of life according to principles or prayers 4 can be achieved at the individual and social levels at the same time. However, the use of motivational hierarchy of 5 steps is a framework for improving the quality of life. It is considered a basic human nature. When integrated with the principles or prayers 4 in Buddhism, then it is considered to develop the quality of life is exactly the meaning.
3) The quality of life development with Buddhist integration in Akha ethnic group on Doi Mae FahLuang. Mean the development of the quality of life in four steps. (1) Physical development is a healthy body, healthy and environment, including housing, proper utilities. 2) The moral development mean self-discipline and good cultural traditions. (3) Mental development is the spirituality development through the use of universal virtue for all religions, all cultures can accept together, these are love and sympathy for others and society, which lead to the volunteer spirit to occur. (4) Intellectual development is the happiness that is the results from the development of the three stages of quality of life. An intelligence is the cause of truly understanding in quality of life development. Lead to creating lasting happiness. We can call this model "The Square of quality of life development”
