This thesis aims at three objectives; to study the Enlightenment in the Theravada Buddhist scripture, to study the accumulation of perfection for enlightenment in the Theravada Buddhist scripture, and to study of the cultivation and perfection in enlightenment of Venerable Dhammātherī. Clarified data had been taken from the Theravada Buddhist scriptures and other related documents, then composed, summarized, analyzed, explained in details, corrected and verified by Buddhist scholars. From the study it found that;
The enlightenment in Buddhism is to fully realize the Four Noble Truths, resulting dispassion, desire and attachment end, entering to transcendent state and became a Noble One. To accumulate the perfection, one must cultivate 10 perfections such as giving perfection etc. Bodhisatta must cultivate perfections with full 3 levels; ordinary, middle and absolute perfections for enlightenment as the Buddha being.
The attainment of enlightenment of Dhammātherī revealed that she had cultivated perfection in various past lives, finally attained enlightenment in last life. it was said that in last life, after her husband passed away, she decided to renounce the worldly life and became Bhikkhuni. She followed insight method based on 4 foundations of mindfulness. Once she went for arm-giving with stick, while returned to temple, falled on the ground, then applied such pains into insight development with mindfulness and awareness into Three Common Characteristics of her body, no longer she attained Arahantship in final by contemplation on body based principle of foundations of mindfulness.
