This dissertation has three objectives: 1) to study the method of Vipassanā practice according to Buddhist management, 2) to study the origin of Vipassanā-Vaṃsa in Thailand, and 3) to study the management of the center for Vipassanā- Meditation of Somdej Phra Buddhācarya (Āj Āsabhamahathera).
The results of the study were as follows:
The practice of tranquil-mediation (Samatha Bhāvanā) and insight meditation (Vipassanā Bhāvanā) have to be done altogether; thereby it would lead to the detachment of suffering, and all defilements and cankers. The way of practice begins with tranquil meditation for keeping mind calm until several level of absorptions (jhāna) took place, then the practitioner uses absorption as the foundation for Vipassanā meditation. Samatha meditation is regarded as the basic principle of meditation in order to enable one to pracetise Vipassanā mediation in the last step. Thus, the step of practice starts from Samatha meditation having Vipassanā meditation in the end of its practice. It would be said that Samatha and Vipassaā meditation have inter-relationship with each other inseparably; it is the principle of practice with its aim at leading mundane state of mind, or the mind of common people into the supra-mundane state or the mind of the Noble One.
