The objectives of this dissertation are (1) to study the modern and the postmodern theories along with the concept of gender, sexual diversity and the process of creating the sexual identities in Thai society. (2) To study the concept about the gender and sexual diversity in Buddhism. (3) To compare and analyze the future tendencies of creating identities based on Buddhist process of sexual diversity in Thai society.

             This research is based on qualitative research using the future research methodology through the trend analysis, along with the in-depth interviews.

             The result of this research found out that (1) the modern theory by scientific explanation about gender and sexual diversity under a discourse that “male & female are natural and normal. Whereas, sexual disorders are unnatural”. From this discourse it leads to a sociological and anthropological dominance describing about the values and roles in controlling sexual status.  Whereas, In terms of Sexual diversity has not defined about roles or creating values in doing different activities in the society. Therefore, the process of creating gender identity according to the modern theories has used the scientific principles to centralize in explaining and set the values of human, and postmodern theories along with the concept of gender and sexual diversity which has refused the methodology in knowledge creation of scientific principles which is actually considered that neither gender has male nor female. It is just the matter of creating knowledge discourse and reproduction which leads to oppression of knowledge. Whereas, the concept of postmodern philosophy focuses on the rights, equality, liberty and human potentiality. So, the process of creating sexual identity is thus the creation of a social space to live together through the diversity of being human and process of creating sexual identity in Thai society with the combination of different concepts together especially, the concepts of Buddhism and concept of gender of both the and modern and postmodern theories, which has models changing and flowing according to the social context. Whereas at present, the emphasis liberty and rights and equality is living together in society under the diversity of individual identities.
