The thesis entitled “An Analytical Study of the Monk’s roles towards the Community: Case Study of Phramaha Suvan Chantharach”, an primate of Sangha in Champasak province, Lao aimed to study the roles of the monks as well as scrutinizing and applying the four developments and the works of Phramaha Suvan chantharach, the Sangha primate in Champasak province, Lao.
It has been found that the monks have played an important roles in the community towards the following aspects, viz. mental adviser, and mental developing center for Lao Buddhists along with help solving problems, being the perfect model for the community. Particularly, the roles of Phramaha Suvan chantharach towards the society in champasak province, Lao have been manifested in four parts, for instant, 1) Sangha’s administration, 2) Sangha education, 3) Propagation of Buddhism and 4) Public welfare.
The results in analyzing the works of Phramaha Suvan chantharach in Champasak province, Lao were four in four aspects, viz. 1) Physical development - promote the advancement of politics and economics 2) Moral development - encouraging the people to purify the body and speech 3) Mental development - promote the development of mind both of external and internal 4) Wisdom development - promote the advancement of intellectual in three level, viz. wisdom resulting from reflection, wisdom resulting from study, wisdom resulting from mental development.
