The objectives of this research were 1) to study the teaching methodology in Theravada Buddhism, 2) to study problems of the morality teaching monks in the secondary schools in Rayong province, and 3) to present the ways of potential development of morality teaching monks in secondary schools in Rayong province. This is a qualitative research that collected the data through in-depth interview with 53 key informants who were the purposive sampling from the professionals. The research instruments were the structured in-depth questionnaire to collect the data by the interview.
The research results showed that
The teaching method in Theravada Buddhism was the cultivation of the student to understand self-value and sympathize with others, to be able to properly and correctly solve the emotional conflict, to acknowledge the cause and effect of the study for the corrected problem solving. The urgently essential basic moral promotion were diligence; persevere to keep on the study, and patient; be unfailing to give up with the obstacle. The diligence has to go together with the wisdom to achieve success.
