Abstract

This Dissertation entitled “The Symbolic Ideology of the Construction of Bejewelled Buddha Image in Thai Society.” It was attempted to examine history and development and then analyzed symbolic ideology of the construction of bejeweled Buddha image in Thai society and to apply Buddhadhamma in the bejeweled Buddha image for living life including proposing the appropriate model of the bejeweled Buddha image. In this research was used the qualitative research methodology. The study was conducted by documentary and in-depth interviews with eight key informants from different groups and used the content analysis. 

It was found that history and development of the construction of bejeweled Buddha image can be classified into two periods: prior to and after the 19th Buddhist century.  As Thai arts were formed its own identity in the 19th Buddhist century, the construction of bejeweled Buddha image in Thai Society presented three symbolic ideologies as follows;
