The objective of this research is to analyze Buddhist teachings for developing what can be tantamount to the modern concept of human rights. The research findings reveal that the Middle Path is deep and wide enough to account for living a good Buddhist life. As a result, the Middle Path, together with the Six Directions and Karma, can be integrated into the modern concept of human rights, thus forming a logical basis for what can be referred to “Buddhist version of human rights”. Certain Buddhist doctrines such as the Karma and the Threefold Learning have dominated the thinking process of Thai Buddhist monks, especially when it comes to comparative ethical analysis.
