Abstract

Abstract

Objectives of this research were to: 1. study the administration of Dhamma Studies Curriculum  at  Pho Prathap Chang district; 2. compare the administration of Dhamma Studies Curriculum at Pho Prathap Chang district. Pichit Province and 3. study the problem, obstacles and recommendations for the administration of the Dhamma Studies Curriculum  at Pho Prathap Chang district, Pichit province.

Methodlogy was mixed methods research: The quantitative research, using the survey research method collecting data with questionnaires, with reliability value at  0.953, collected data from 192 monks and analyzed data by  Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, F-test, one-way analysis of Variance and qualitative research by In-Dept-Interviewing  10 key informants, analyzing data by content analysis.

Findings were as follows:

1. The management of Dhamma Studies Curriculum at Pho Prathap Chang district. Pichit Province by overall was at high levels.

2. Comparative study of monks’ opinions towards Dhamma Studies Curriculum management  at Pho Prathap Chang District using the F-test method was were that monks with different age, Pali educational level had different opinions, accepting the set hypothesis. Monks with different ordained years, Dhamma and formal education levels did not have different opinions towards the administration of Dhamma Studies Curriculum at Pho Prathap chang District, Pichit Province, denying the set hypothesis.

3. Recommendation: Problems, obstacles and suggestions for the administration of Dhamma Studies Curriculum at Pho Prathap Chang District. Phichit Province  were:

Curriculum. Practice should be emphasized more than subject matters so that student could use in daily life, add more time to study, assigning for extra learning, approve content and form applying new technology for student for further searching for knowledge.

Learning and Teaching Process; textbooks were not enough, moré students, large classrooms, unclear explanation. Teachers lacked teaching skill. Classrooms should be divided into many rooms so that teachers could cover the whole subjects and students would be more contracted. There should be additional trainings for teachers’ skill before actual teaching.

Measurement and Evaluation Process; minimum evaluation, not integrated forms of evaluation, there should be regular evaluation especially evaluation after learning, there should be new technique and modern evaluation to fit the present condition.

The budget in support; institutes Abbots allocated less schooling funds for monks and novices. Monasteries lacked of funds and budgets for running effective Dhamma schools. Abbots should have clear and systematic plan for fund raising to support Dhamma students effectively. There should be budget from government or various agencies so that all agencies concerned would have participation in Dhamma Studies Curriculum Management.
