Abstract
The aims of this research were: 1) to study the promotion of ethical behaviors of the administrators according to IV Sangahavatthu (sangahavatthu, bases of social solidity) in the basic education schools under the Office of Mahasarakham Educational Service Area 2; 2) to compare the promotion of the ethical behaviors, classified by the samples’ factors: position, education and work experience; 3) to study the ways for promoting the ethical behaviors of the administrators according to the dhamma. The samples of this research were 133 of administrators and 311 teachers and the target group included 9 administrators and 12 teachers. The research tools were a questionnaire and an interview form. The statistics used were: Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, t-test (Independent Sample), f-test (One-way ANOVA), Scheffe’ method; the data were descriptively analyzed.
The research results were as follows:
The statistic score of the promotion of ethical behaviors of the administrators in overall was at a high level; the highest can be seen in the aspect of ‘equal treatment (samānattatā)’, followed by that of ‘useful conduct (atthacariyā)’ and the least was seen in that of ‘generosity (dāna)’.
Based on the comparison, the mean scores of the promotion of the ethical behaviors of the administrators, classified by their position, education and work experience in overall were different with the statistical significance level at .01.
The ways for promoting the ethical behaviors of the administrator according to the dhamma were that the ethical behaviors in generosity should be promoted; educational personnel should be involved in provision of learning materials to learners; this is a guide to sustainable development of teaching and learning; some educational personnel should be the good role models; in teaching activities, the appropriate words to the learner should be used all the time; the schools should have a center or a behavioral clinic to solve problems of learners such as the problems of drug addiction, games and class absence; the meetings should be held every month; the opportunity for people to share ideas to solve problems in the school should be created.
