Abstract
The purpose of this thesis was to 1) study the concept of heaven in Theravada Buddhist Scriptures,2) study the attainment of heaven for humans in Theravada Buddhist Scriptures, and3) study the method of attaining heaven for human in Theravada Buddhist Scriptures. This research used Qualitative Research.
The results found that the concept of heaven in Buddhism is available in Tripitaka and other Buddhist Scriptures. These evidences are identified obviously that there are six heavens. Each heaven is available basedon each human’s karma, which is determined by their actions while they are alive.
The peak of attainment for Theravada Buddhistis Nirvana, which meansthat the living is without defilements, ignorance, passion, imagination and all errant,well behaved, and making the mind pure, enlightened, and clam down. Moreover, it requires the thorough understanding of the Four Noble Truths as Supramundane States, which releases one from the world.
Therefore, the method of attaining heaven for human in Buddhist Scripturesrequired some practices in Alms-giving, following of Morality Rules, and behaving of Loving-Kindness which are meditation or Way of Making Merit. When humans practice all these things, they will attain the world without exploitation the heaven.
