Abstract
The purposes of this thesis were to study 1) the Eight Precepts in Theravada Buddhist, 2) the methods for observing the Eight Precepts of the Buddhist in Taladtai Temple, and 3) analyzing for the result of Buddhist’s observing the Eight Precepts to develop quality of life. The method of this thesis was Qualitative Research and structured interview was used as the survey of this thesis.
The results were found that the Buddhist at Taladtai Temple had an motivation and goal to observe the Eight Precepts for benefit in this life namely making them and their families feel happy in that peace of body, peace of mind, attaining to succeed as their wishes. Moreover, their wishes in next life were to attain of the heaven. However, almost Buddhist in Taladtai Temple did not attained of Nirvana because it was too hard attaining and impossible for them. The researcher had a recommend that Buddhist in Taladtai Temple lacked of knowledge for observing the Eight Precepts which were extraordinary Percept for ordinary people. The researcher also found that both laymen and laywomen almost observe the Eight Precepts in temple which was better than observe the Eight Precepts in their houses because observing the Eight Precepts in temple made Buddhists can make a merit, give alms, listen to sermon and make a meditation better than observe the Eight Precepts in their houses, to perform meritorious acts following the Three Studies namely morality, concentration and wisdom for the result of merit which perform completely. Moreover, this performing was the part of quality of life development for self, families, social overview and economy.
