This research paper aims at 2 purposes; 1) to study Kalyāṇamitta principle in Theravada Buddhist scriptures, 2) to study of Kalyāṇamitta according to the teaching of Insight Meditation of Phrakhrubhavanavaranurak (Witthaya Yahom by collecting data from Theravada Buddhist scriptures; Tipitaka, commentaries, sub-commentaries and other related documents, that concerned, summarized, composed, explained in details corrected and verified the experts in Insight Meditation.

The research findings were that Kalyāṇamitta means good companions, virtuous friend, guidance of advantages, on the other hand it includes those who hold moral character, virtuous etc., denying evil, supporting  benefits to all, helpful to all, intelligence, generosity, full of confidence, learning, etc. there are 2 types of Kalyāṇamitta; Virtuous friend and Worldly friend. Kalyāṇamitta contains 7 qualities; 1) being lovable, 2) being respectable, 3) being adorable, 4) being a counsellor, 5) being a patient listener, 6) able to deliver deep discourses, 7) never exhorting groundlessly. Good friend always is generous to all and beneficial to those who are close friend in present, next life and most benefit or liberation from all suffering.

Phrakhrubhavanavaranurak (Witthaya Yahom) has been praised as learned Bhikkhus and taught insight meditation based on Four Foundations of Mindfulness. He also follows principle of 7 Kalyāṇamitta qualities, i.e1) he treats other with lovable character, 2) he performs himself with virtue and taught insight to his followers as a good friend so becoming respectful to all, 3) he disciplines in Bhikkuhood adorably, 4) he is clever in delivering teaching and insight examining, 5) unchangeable with ignorant practitioners, 6) insight and Dhamma explanation with deep and clear understanding and 7) he persuades and encourages the practitioners insight practice and benefits in present, next and supreme benefit or Nibbana attaining.
