Abstract
This research was of the following objectives (1) to study behavioral theories and cognitive process based on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness; (2) to study factors affecting the behavior and cognitive process; and (3) to present the causal model affecting the behavior and the cognitive process of Four Foundations of Mindfulness–based practitioners. The sample of the study included 120 Insight Meditation Program's students of Pali Buddhagosa Campus, laymen and laywomen, using a questionnaire to collect data. The statistics used to analyze data included Mean, Standard Deviation,F–test and to analyze Logistic Regression used Multinomial Logistics.
The results of the study showed that the analysis of logistic regression was
to find out the relationship between dependent variables and independent variables: dependent variables (Y) were characterized by the group value. When the relationship model was obtained using the group value based on the probability of occurrence
it resulted in the logistic regression analysis. Moreover, the logistic regression analysis revealed (1) the personal factors, behaviors and cognitive process affecting personal factors included the status of the practitioners and the level of education significantly affected the behavior and cognitive process at the p-value of 0.05, whereas the 41-50 years of age and meditation experience did not affect behaviors and cognitive processes; (2) the analysis of the influence of the original mental factors, including self-actualization, emotional stability, Self-efficiency and perception of operational status significantly affected behaviors and cognitive process at the p-value of 0.05; and (3) the analysis of Multiple Logistic Regression Analysis to monitor if the coefficients of independent variables affecting dependent variables: behaviors and cognitive process.
