Abstract
This research entitled “An Analytical Study of Value and Significance of Uposatha in Buddhism”. The objectives of this research as follows 1) to study the Uposatha in Buddhism, 2) to study the value and significance of Uposatha in Buddhism, and 3) to analyze the value and significance of Upasatha in Buddhism. This research was qualitative research by using the documentary research method. The researcher collected data and this research was descriptive analysis. The results of the research were as follows.
The result of the study found that the Uposatha was originated since the Buddha Era in order to be the place for a religious rite and boundary markers of an Uposatha where was a place for Buddhist monks to perform rituals by having two types that consisted of Baddhasîmã (monastic boundary) and Abaddhasîmã (monastic unboundary). Uposatha was of great importance and value to the Buddhist faith and led to the succession of Buddhism. The value of Uposatha reflected the architectural work which was magnificent and the wall of Uposatha still had paintings related to Buddha’s biography that was hidden by the various ethics to spectators and take place the faithfulness to the Buddha.
