Abstract
The purposes of this thesis were; (1) to study the concepts of E-san literature of Tao Kamkadam (2) to study Dhamma and the moral concepts as iappeared in Tao Kamkadam literature and (3) to study the influence of Dhamma and the moral concepts in Tao Kamkadam literature towards E-san people’s lives. The research was the qualitative research by studying the documents.
The results of the research were found that E-san people’s culture has been inherited for along time, especially the culture of the Buddhist teaching and the other teaching for people in the society. The folktales or the local literatures are regarded as the teaching instruments of the E-san people who will make them as the methods to instruct the culture of the Buddhist teaching to the society through the process of narrating the folktales and through the sermon or various melodious styles of arts etc.
The E-san literature titled Tao Kamkadam has been regarded as the interesting story and applied for preaching Dhamma of E-san people. The story of Tao Kamkadam is the Jãtaka fable and the folktale originated from bringing the retold story by improving to be Jãtaka or the story of the Buddha in previous time. For instruction of the Buddhist teaching such as the doctrine of Kamma, the doctrine of Three Characteristic of Existence, the doctriner of observance of precepts and making merit etc. In addition, the local scholars’ teachings have been still inserted in the Buddhist doctrine that influences on E-san people in various aspects such as traditions, belief and conventions in practicing in various issues also.
