The purposes of the research were; (1) to study the concept related to the belief and tradition in Theravada Buddhism (2) to study the background and the model of Boon Phawad festival of Srivilai District, Buengkan Province and (3) to study the achievement of listening the sermon In the Boon Phawad festival of Srivilai District, Buengkan Province. This research was the qualitative research analyzing from the documents and interview.

              The results of this research were found that the background of Phrawed sermon of Srivilai District, Buengkan Province consists of two medels, that is, the model of sermon in the level of items and the applied model. The achievement in listening sermon in Boon Phawad festival of Srkvilai District, Buengkan Province effected towards people in the territory of Srivilai District, Buengkan Province in 4 categories as follows:

              1) in the aspect of morality, to culture the features of habits in the principle of Dhamma. The aspect of morality teaches people to avoid an evil and to do good and purify the mind and to make more sharity.

              2) in the aspect of behaviors, to create the good consciousness to individuals in society , to share their own benefits for others, to have the sympathy for public and to express both physically and verbally.

              3) in the aspect of education, to encourage people to have knowledge  and understanding the principle of teaching and to be ability to develop the wisdom, reasons, emotion and body.

              4) the quality of life, to be quality of life, to have the sympathy to each other, to have unity, not to conflict each other and to be happy and peach.
