ABSTRACT

 The three purposes of this dissertation were 1) to study roles of developing the Sangha community in Wangdin sub-district, Muang district, Uttaradit province in terms of socio-cultural, educational and environmental aspect, 2 ) to study the Buddhist principles used in developing the Sangha community in Wangdin sub-district, Muang district, Uttaradit province, and 3 ) to study the application of the Buddhist teaching principles for development of the Sangha community in Wangdin sub-district, Muang district, Uttaradit province. This research was the Mixed method research through the use of survey research through the use of the questionnaires for surveying the people’s opinion about the monks’ role on developing the community using the randomized population group from the whole population in the sub-district and The qualitative research through the use of in-depth interview and focus group discussion using specified population group of monks and community leaders in Wangdin sub-district and the quantitative or. The obtained data were then analyzed and described to present the finalized data.

The results of the research revealed that :

There were five aspects of roles on developing the community of the monks in Wangdin sub-district, Muang district, Uttaradit province, namely social, economic, cultural, educational and environmental aspects. Data from the quantitative research revealed that in general the people’s opinion was at much level in every aspect (= 3.96). The educational aspect was at most average with environmental, social, cultural and economic aspect were lower average, respectively.

The Buddhist principles for development of community of Sangha in Wangdin Sub-District, Muang District, Uttaradit Province were as follows: (1) Social aspect, Economic aspect, and environment aspect they had used four principles of social harmony, Virture leading to temporal welfare, basis of success, sublime states of mind and Right Livelihood. (2) Educational aspect: they had used basis of success. (3) Cultural aspect: they had used virture leading to temporal welfare and basis of success.

The result of application of Buddhist teaching principles in development of community of monks in Wangdin Sub-district, Muang District, Uttaradit Province. Were found as follows:

1) In term of social aspect the had used four principles of social harmony, virture leading to temporal welfare, basis of success, sublime state of mind and right livelihood to applicate in development in form of maral training project for youth and people which made people happiness and reconcitiation and live togetteher happily.

2) In term of economic aspect: they had used four principles of social and virture leading to temporal welfare to applicate in community which was made become the economic sufficient community and people could depend on themselves and well being.

3) In part of culture aspect: the had used virture leading to temporal welfare and basis of success to applicate in community which was made people preservation and revival god culture and realization in value of lacal wisdom.

4) In part of educational aspect: the had brought the basis of success to applicate in educational promotion which was made people and Buddhist monks in Wangdin sub-district to intent and to study for their development up to community development.

5) In term of environment aspect : they had used virture leading to temporal welfare, basis of success, sublime states of mind and right livelihood to applicate in community development which was made people love in natural, realize the important of natural by preservation and using advantage from natural worthly and stable.
