Abstract

The purposes of this research were to 1) study about the society and economy of Donmoon community, Sungmen District, Phrae Province 2) to study on the application of Iddhipāda IV in enhancement the economy of Donmoon community, Sungmen District, Phrae Provinceand 3) to study about success of the application of Iddhipada IV in enhancement the economy of Donmoon community, Sungmen district, Phrae province

This study was a mixed-method research with quantitative and qualitative research format. The questionnaires on the application of Iddhipāda IV in enhancement the economy of Donmoon community, Sungmen District, Phrae Province were used as the tools for collecting data and distributed to eighty respondents. The interview forms were also applied with eight community leaders. The obtained data were then analyzed by the computerized statistical program. Statistical programs being used in the analysis included percentage, means and standard deviations (S.D) as well as the analyzed data from focus group discussion performed among the community leaders of the Donmoon community. Concerning the results of the research, it was found that:

             The study revealed that the general conditions of economy and society of Donmoon community were mostly agricultural-based. The people were agriculturalists, animal raisers, general employees, government servants and enterprise workers. Most of the people were Buddhists with the temple being their main spiritual-holding place. This brought in love and harmony among the local people. In addition, every people in the community were indeed generous to one another. The local administrative format was Donmoon Sub-District Administration Organization which contained the administrative board and the council.

             Regarding the economy, the local people were mostly furniture manufacturers and sellers, farmers, handicraft makers, government servants, and general employees. As for traditions and culture, these were mostly about the common way of life or usual practices which have been held on for a long time by the native people. This was regarding with the Buddhist belief as seen in the people’s daily life when they were encountered with mental or physical sufferings, they would seek for the monks who acted as the spiritual leaders who helped to wipe off their sufferings and brought in happiness and peacefulness. The local people dwelt on various traditional, customary rituals to get rid of their sufferings i.e. the life lengthening, wiping off bad things, dedicating things to the ghost, extensions life strengthening, spiritual strengthening, keeping the ancestors’s ghost, great alms giving or Loy Krathong festival.

             Regarding the application of Iddhipāda IV in enhancement the economy of Baan Donmoon community, Sungmen District, Phrae Province, it was found that in general view it was in the high level (=4.45). When being classified in respective aspect, the people in Donmoon community had applied the Iddhipāda IV principle in enhancement the economy with Chanda aspect was at the most level (=4.51) and the remaining aspects being was at much level in every item, namely Vimamsā        (=4.45), Citta (=4.44) and Viriya ( =4.41), respectively.  

          . Concerning the success of the application of Iddhipāda IV in economic enhancement the of Donmoon community, Sungmen District, Phrae Province, it was found that every local people of Donmoon community had a substantial amount of knowledge and understanding in the principle of Iddhipāda IV and could apply it in economic enhancement of Donmoon community which resulted in the achievement of secured economy. This achievement was increase order of production of Doonmoon Union Sungmen District, Phrae Province. In addition, Doonmoon community was also increase income both family and personal side. Moreover, this achievement had made people in the community was opportunity to make merit very much. For the aspect of Chanda, the people were satisfied and fond of their own business and they had planned the job performance systematically.  For Viriya, the people were enthusiastic and had an attempt or perseverance in operating their business with their best capacity which brought in the good-quality manufactured products. For Citta, the people were well careful towards operating the business, starting from manufacturing the products, selling the products by customers’ orders to launching the products out to the market. For Vimamsā, the people established the committee for checking the products’s quality both manufactured by the community enterprise and the household sector. This would bring the achievement for their jobs which created happiness, love in their job. Finally, it had got more benefits to themselves, their family and their community.
